Jubilee Stitching

60 years ago today, on the 6th February 1952 Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne.  Her coronation was held on the 2nd June and 2012 marks her Diamond Jubilee (only Queen Victoria before her has celebrated a reign this long).  Over the weekend of 2-4th June there is an extra bank holiday and a number of national events and celebrations to mark this national occasion….

We are proud to be British at JACQUI P and I have over the years created quite a few patriotic things to stitch… as well as some new lines which we are launching over the coming weeks..so why not be crafty in celebrating this great event…

New Decorative Gift Tape

Our new decorative gift tape designs have landed at our sister brand Pearl and Earl‘s HQ and we have been playing with them all weekend.  The kids favourites are the BOYS AND GIRLS tapes.. which they have have fun making cards with.
Personally we think they make a great quick wrap idea teamed with our candy striped bags…  or to jazz up some simple brown paper wrapping…. we have 2 versions of our NO PEEKING tape – one is a simple big stamp (240mm long) and the other is a typographic montage which works really well as an alternative ribbon (whether its Christmas or any celebration)

Christmas Crafts

Christmas is a coming and at Granny Knits we are launching a new kit every day this week.. to help you get crafty this Christmas.

First up is our Christmas Words Cross Stitch Kit  which we made up into a colourful wall hanging – which we think makes it a chic heirloom piece to treasure in your Christmas box.

Today only we have 25% off this with code CHRISTMASWORDS.  Why not sign up to our newsletter to make sure you get all the latest codes and offers over the next few weeks.

Happy Seasonal Stitching!

Striped Paper Straws

New stocks of our Striped Paper Straws by our sister brand Pearl and Earl are arriving at HQ this week.

They have proved to be super popular since their launch in April and the first batch sold out in under 2 weeks.  We have A LOT arriving at our warehouse this week in some mouthwatering shades.

Our straws are over 18 months worth of development and sourcing .. and they are eco chic at its best.  100% biodegradeable, printed using water based inks and tested to the highest food standards, before being packed in our biodegradable cello retail packs to come to you…  and NO they do not unravel or disintegrate!

We have worked hard to make sure that the colour has the super bright vibrancy you would expect from us and we have 10 new colours and patterns in development for January.

We hope that you love them as much as we do.  We have bulk packs for weddings and events…to save you a bit of dosh if you are having a big do!

So why not add a touch of nostalgic chic glamour to your drink!

DIY Halloween Decorations

Halloween is upon us and we have some fab Halloween Party decorations at Pearl and Earl, which we have had a little fun with this week.

We are adding to our collection of DIY PARTY activities on the site – and have made these 3 little projects to do with your kids (or have fun with on your own!) They are free to download on our blog here for a limited time – and afterwords can be downloaded from our site for a small fee.

The pack includes a GHOST, SCARY PUMPKIN and DAPPER PUMPKIN for your Halloween enjoyment!  All you will need is a printer, scissors and some of our paper balls and paper bells to decorate.

Alternatively you can simply use them as stencils for your pumpkin – or maybe stick on a balloon?

Why I love paper streamers

ribbon and flower gift wrap

I LOVE paper streamers..  when I was a child we used to twist them and drape them everywhere at Christmas – and the reels just seemed to go on FOREVER…
So when we launched NOSTALGIC EVENTS I set about sourcing these in our colour palette to festoon onto every occassion…
Last week they arrived and yesterday I played and played with the colourful array..  and this is what I came up with!
I am in the midst of writing lots of DIY Party tutorials .. and so full instructions will follow…
Each colour comes in a 25m reel and at less than £3 each you get an awful lot for your buck .. and plenty of paper to play with!  Cheaper than ribbon, bunting and paper chains for sure!

Nostalgic Events and Chic Decorations

Well it is no surprise that “We Love a Good Do” here at Granny Knits .. so it was only a matter of time before we launched our own collection of things to host the most chic celebration!..  which we have in conjunction with our sister brand Pearl and Earl
Most of the celebrations in our lives have had a DIY spin on it – from the home designed wedding invitations and stationery and every kids party in between…  my approach has usually been based around a “theme” which we inevitably go to town on in our own mad cap nostalgic style!  From our pumpkin bread rolls at Halloween to the DIY paper bunting for the Royal Wedding…
Inspired by Amy Atlas the Dessert Bar Queen from NYC (see top pic).. we thought maybe there were more of you out there who loved and craved these nostalgic accessories for your event/wedding/party and wanted something “a little different”
Hey presto.. we designed, we sourced and now the first phase is here!
Starting with a collection of NOSTALGIC DECORATIONS including a plethora of honeycomb PAPER BALLS, PAPER BELLS, PAPER HEARTS, GARLANDS and STREAMERS these are exclusively designed and made by us… including our new PAPER STRAWS..
We stock 11 colours and 12 shapes and sizes – but can do bespoke designs in up to 26 pantone matched colours for wholesale, trade and catering clients…  but for now they are simply delighting us here at Granny Knits HQ ready for the Wedding Season and dare we say it Christmas!
Check out the Pearl and Earl site for the full collection

Our Royal Tea

Golly gosh is it really a week since the Royal Wedding?  We had 2 wonderful long weekends, celebrating Easter and the Royal Wedding simply enjoying the sunshine with family and friends.
We were up super early with 6 very excited children.. desperate to see the “princess marry her handsome prince”…
So to while away the morning we baked cakes and made home made flags and bunting to string across the garden (once we knew the rain was going to hold off)
With a mini hog roast, and red white and blue cocktails… the day was one for all to remember.
We hope you celebrated your own Royal day in style!

New Wedding Photography and NOTHS

Granny Knits was invited by NOT ON THE HIGH STREET to have its very own section on their leading gift web site – due to the success of our sister site Pearl and Earl being one of their top sellers.
So we were very excited (as we only launched with them last week) to find ourselves in their catalogue and our MODERN WEDDING SAMPLER rephotographed especially.
We think they have done a splendid job..  and are now waiting for the catalogue to hit our mats.
We campaigned for a CRAFT SECTION on their site – and are pleased that it has taken off so well with their customers and partners alike
Rock on crafty chic!…

Royal Badge

Today my daughters school was having a Royal Wedding party…  and the kids had to make hats and dress up in Red White and Blue…
Libby is only 6 but is starting to cross stitch and blanket stitch – so I helped her use this months FREE PROJECT Union Jack mini cross stitch to make into this badge for her jacket.
We added a couple of mini pom poms and a poppy made from felt scraps.  I will be posting a HOW TO on the badge making later…
I know it’s a little mad – but we loved it!
Let us know about any British / Royal stitching you are making on our facebook page and we will give prizes to the best.
